Pre-bid intelligence

Every bid is a decision made on too little information.

Gravl is the pre-bid intelligence platform for construction. A bid is a call on quantities, conditions, haul distance and who else is at the table. We read the documents, price the logistics, and model the decision, on models we train ourselves.

01The constraint

You cannot hire your way through seven stages.

Every bid moves through the same seven. Adding people widens one stage at a time and never fast enough to matter. The way through is better facts, earlier.

1

Advertising

Lettings land across portals and plan rooms. Compiled by hand.

2

Request for proposal

Pulled, logged, assigned. The funnel is triaged here.

3

Plan set

Plans, specs, addenda. In whatever order the designer chose.

4

Material development

The bid schedule becomes the items you actually service.

5

Extraction

Quantities with citations. Conditions flagged and classified.

6

Quotes in

Aggregate, ready mix, subs. The longest lead time you have.

7

Proposal

Pricing judgment, review, submission. This stays with you.

Automated
Tracked, not automated

Stages 6 and 7 stay outside the boundary on purpose. About a third of a deep dive is genuine pricing judgment. We do not touch it.

Firms who do not use Gravl, and firms who do.

Same size, same market, five years. Put in what you read today and watch the gap open.

Everything else is held. Loaded at 1.30 over a 2,080 hour year.

14.5x
Times as many plans read at full depth, by year five
9,263
Reading hours returned over five years
$683,000
Those hours, valued at your estimator cost

02The platform

Win more. Read less. Know where the margin is.

Reading the documents is the first stage, not the product. What happens after it is the part that changes your year.

You confirm the read once. Everything after it inherits that confirmation, which is why it is a stage and not a checkbox.

03How we work

A services engagement that leaves software behind.

We embed, learn the domain, and build against your documents. The software is what remains when the engagement ends.

Layer one

Forward deployed

A fixed term, run in phases, with a decision gate at the end of each one. You can stop at any gate having received the work completed to that point.

  • A full day on site, timing every stage of your pre-bid workflow
  • Accuracy measured against your own historical takeoffs
  • A knowledge transfer document, written for your team
Layer two

Built, not assembled

Anyone can chain a general purpose agent onto a PDF and call it a product. The hard part is underneath: a corpus that stays current, classifiers trained on one customer's vocabulary, and decision models fitted to outcomes rather than to prompts.

  • Models we train, on infrastructure we own
  • Every value traceable to the page it came from
  • Estimator corrections feed the models that made the error

04Contact

If the reading is your bottleneck, we should talk.

We take a small number of engagements at a time, because the model depends on being in your estimating room during discovery. The right first conversation is thirty minutes about how your pre-bid workflow actually runs, not a product demonstration.
